So we have officially been on the road for a week. Oscar (our van) is running like a dream and we’re adapting well to the gypsy life. We’ve managed to camp for free on five out of seven nights, and we’ve had beans for nearly every meal. This is absolutely necessary if we want to stick to our budget because fuel is ridiculously expensive up here.
Next week: on to Dawson City and Alaska.
Here are some pictures from the road.
Old Fort Point. We twisted Zach’s rubber arm into taking the day off work and joining us in Jasper.
Lake Edith. A chilly dip after the hike.
Beaver Lodge, AB.
Who has the bigger beaver?
Macdonald Creek, BC. Lucky we had a 2004 copy of ‘The Milepost’. We wouldn’t have found this campsite without it.
Muncho Lake, BC
Liard Hot Springs, BC.
Finally some sunshine. Stretching the legs after a few hours of rain on the road.
Campsite 4. Teslin Lake, YT.
Teslin Lake, YT.
Enjoying the view from the campsite. Thanks for the wine glasses Tom & Mills.
Grey Mountain, Whitehorse, YT.
Too many beans in the belly.
So that was emotional! Who would have thought that the city which once had the biggest mall in North America, would come to mean so much to us? It’s not so much the place, but the people. The friends we have made are now our extended family. Our last weekend was filled with food and more food, karaoke, sweet dance moves, farts, wine, beer, gin, scotch, tears, giggles, puppies, camping and the horseshoes championship of the world. See a few pictures below.
Thanks to everyone, you know who you are! We love you and promise to try and blog (occasionally).
Today in Fort St. John, a lady with questionable teeth told me that it is her dream to drive around in a “hippy van”. Lady, we are living your dream and ours!!
Blog out XX
Spring is coming.
But not fast enough.
Oscar remains in the garage.
And we wait.
